Therapy vs. Coaching: Understanding the Difference is Important!!

Therapy is a clinical service (often insurance funded) aimed at diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, addressing emotional struggles, and navigating psychological challenges. It often delves into past experiences, trauma, and patterns that influence your current well-being. Licensed therapists are trained professionals dedicated to facilitating healing, offering insight, and enhancing mental and emotional health. Licensed therapists often use similar approaches as coaches at times and more.

Coaching is a non-clinical (patient funded), future-oriented service designed to bolster personal growth, goal-setting, and behavior change. Unlike therapy, coaching does not diagnose or treat mental illness. Instead, it empowers individuals to clarify their current position, articulate their aspirations, and strategize actionable steps for progress. The coaching process is inherently collaborative, emphasizing action and rooted in the individual's strengths, values, and intrinsic potential. Coaches do not provide answers but explore them with clients.

In a nutshell: Therapy provides the tools for healing, whereas coaching equips you to flourish and evolve.
